Private yachts are a great niche for travel advisors to break into. They provide a jet set lifestyle and perhaps most importantly, a discreet environment to enjoy a customized vacation.

We caught up with Edita Sgovio, VP of yachts and villas for Kensington to get the latest trends on who is booking this travel sector and we're back with this intel.

“We’re seeing generational distinctions in how clients approach yacht travel, especially as wealth continues to transfer to younger generations,” Sgovio tells us. “Millennials, Gen X and Gen Z are becoming a growing segment of our clientele, and they are very much driven by experiences,” she says, noting that the Caribbean and the Mediterranean remain the most popular yachting destinations. “They want more than just a beautiful yacht or villa; they’re looking for immersive, shareable moments that combine adventure, wellness, and authenticity.”

“These younger travelers love all the toys and opportunities for exploration on the water — from jet skis and diving to yoga instructors and massage therapists onboard. Boomers, meanwhile, tend to focus on food, wine, and cultural discovery. They often mix their time at sea with private guided land experiences or a few nights at a villa, enjoying a blend of comfort, culture, and connection. Regardless of generation, what unites our clients is their desire for a deeply personal, expertly tailored experience,” says Sgovio.
