Our Story

Where we started

Cathy Xu is the owner and lead seamstress of A1 Alteration. She learned her skills from China, where she attended tailoring school since she was a little girl. At some point she decided to move away from China to Guam for better opportunities. In 2019, A1 Alterations switched ownership which led to Cathy becoming the lead seamstress.

Having over 30 years of experience dealing with all different types of fabrics and styles, our high standards for the service we provide and consistency of successful results led to our customers to refer us to their friends and family. Over the years, our customers have come back again and again because they enjoy our professional opinion and the results they get.

Unlike many seamstresses that only know how to alter clothing, we know how to custom tailor to your specific needs and create a piece of clothing that is truly made just for you. Because of Cathy’s education from tailoring school, she knows how to think as a designer as well as a seamstress. With over 30 years of tailoring experience, dealing with everything from expensive suits and dresses to professional uniforms and business attire - we are very well-rounded and able to handle almost any challenge with regards to your clothing.
